Cammp Bloopers 2016

Growing Up Too Fast

I to Grunckle R leaving for work in dress clothes (who she usually sees in jeans & a t-shirt):

  • I: "R, you look, um, handsome!"
  • R: (In shock) "Well, thank you!"
  • I: "I've just never seen you wear that before."

In the car coming home:

  • J: "When I go to the Matty B concern, I will need to get some merchandise."
  • Gramma: "Merchandise?"
  • J:  "Yes, that's what they call it."

After hitting a racoon (maybe) and tearing off the front bumper:

  • I:  "Well, this will be a memorable Gramma Cammp."
  • Gramma: "Ya think?"

Walking in to store and looking down at her stone washed skinny jeans:

  • I: "Gramma, I like these pants. They remind me of you!"
  • Gramma: "Why is that?"
  • I: "It's your style."
  • Gramma: "I have a style?"
  • I:  "Yes, it's Ka-Bloom!"

From the backseat of another long drive to and from somewhere and a discussion about the Mississippi River.

  • I: "The Missouri River is actually longer. Like 2 million, or 1 million miles long."
  • Gramma: "Really?"
  • I: "Well, actually, I think the Missouri River is 2,523 miles long and the Mississippi is 2,123 miles or something like that."

At the zoo, walking in circles:

  • Gramma: "I think this gorilla exhibit is new."
  • I: Oh, yeah it's new all right."
  • Gramma: "So, what haven't we seen yet?"
  • I: "Maybe we should just get a map."

Running late, we rush to go garage sale-ing AND make sure we have everything for the whole day -- which includes evening basketball. Thanks to the Racoon, we are driving R's car in which Gramma is typically a passenger.

  • I: Gets all settled in to back seat.
  • Gramma: Loads the trunk, her purse and water and everything we need for the whole day. Gets in the passenger side and sits in the passenger seat.
  • There's a silent moment or two. Then, from the back seat:
    • I: "Gramma, don't we need somebody to drive?"

Total miles driven during the week: 475; Gramma Cammp over, packing up to go back home.

  • M: "Mom, there's not enough room in the car for all this stuff.
  • I: "Gramma can just bring the rest out later."
  • Gramma: "Better make room; it will be at LEAST three days before I drive out of my neighborhood. I'm just saying . . . "

Total unscheduled stops: 12
Total Caribou Mango & Strawberry Smoothies: 10
Total McDonald's: 3 (their iced coffee is actually very good)
