Communication is necessary -- even for Gramma Cammp©.  But, for Gramma Cammp©, it can be so much fun!

seriously, this is so much fun

If you design and then use a communication plan for your Gramma Cammp©, you are going to be SO SURPRISED at the response you get.

It's. Just. Amazing.

I was so excited preparing my first Gramma Cammp© and couldn’t help but share what I was doing with almost everyone I met. Their reactions and interest surprised me, though. Because it's good to let mom and dad know what's going on with their kids, I created a newsletter for my immediate family. They soon shared the newsletter with their work colleagues and friends. Before I knew it, we had a following for Gramma Cammp©.

when and how will i do this?

I'm an early riser. I sent our newsletter out each morning during Cammp© before my grand girls woke up and our schedule began. The newsletter highlighted events from the previous day with appropriate pictures of Gramma and the girls (always remember to take pictures) and outlined our schedule for the day.  Every morning, return messages to me were almost immediate.

“Please add me to your mailing list.”

“Do you have a camp curriculum you could share with me?”

“My mom would love to do this with her grandkids! Would you share your outline or whatever you use?”

I was also surprised by how many people remembered that I did a Gramma Cammp© over the summer. Work colleagues, clients, and neighbors asked “how was Gramma Cammp©?” and “Are you doing it again next year?”

it's gonna go viral and you're gonna be famous

My small mom and dad/family newsletter distribution grew from about five to over 25 the first year. I’m a social media fan and Facebook© status postings spread the word of our Gramma Cammp© even further.

For example, one day during last summer’s Cammp©, our field trip took us to a small-town shopping area. Guided by our theme for the day and dressed in the same color, the girls and I walked Main Street doing a scavenger-hunt type activity. While waiting at a pedestrian light to cross the street, I looked up to see a Facebook friend waving from the other side.

She smiled, pointed at us and yelled “Gramma Cammp©!”

It was just awesome.
